Can we get beyond these 'about' pages? I'm not comfortable with my grasp of the word pretentious but this just doesn't feel right. I do, however, feel the compulsion to make my contribution into our grand game of voyeurism or something like that. I realize this just won't be the same if you can't place me on the scale. Am I a train wreck you use to feel better about your life or am I someone you can steal from or aspire to?

I'm happy to do my part so as they say in the navy, let's get down to brass tacks shall we? I'm a 34 year-old working mother. I enjoy cooking a lot but I have no professional training. My process consists of stealing from other people and changing things up just enough to make it less recognizable to someone who saw the original. I learned the technique in school. It's how I wrote essays.

I'm currently out of work but not because I lost my job. I wasn't actually fired, but laid off. My company was dismantled but it kind of still exists but with less people that I know. So I'm starting to begin that job hunt process.
